L. Henry Boyd

 

Employed in the international transportation industry since the mid 1970’s, Mr. Boyd is a founder and principal of L.H. Boyd & Company, a consulting firm specializing in transportation equipment management and engineering. The firm supports clients in the transportation and financial services industries. Mr. Boyd has been called upon to advise clients on many of the important issues facing the intermodal transportation industry today. These projects have involved: the economics of doublestack rail transportation; fleet maintenance management systems; future residual and current fair market value determination; equipment re-marketing plans; specialized equipment designs; and development of vendor quality control programs.

As head of technical services at XTRA Corporation, a NYSE transportation equipment leasing company, he was responsible for all technical and operational issues involved in the management of the company's assets. These assets included marine cargo containers, container chassis (US and foreign), domestic piggyback trailers European road trailers of all types, railcars and rail locomotives.

He has been active in the development of international standards for marine cargo containers. Mr. Boyd is a member of United States standards committee on marine cargo containers. He has served as a representative of the United States to the International Standards Organization (ISO) technical committee (TC 104) meetings on standards for marine cargo containers. He has been involved in the development of standards used by the Association of American Railroads for the re-manufacture of piggyback trailers used in Trailer On Flat Car (TOFC) service.

Mr. Boyd is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
